Sovereign Hill to Guilderton Pipeline
Project goal:
Improve the reliability of water services in the region.
Status:
In construction
Delivery Date:
2026.
What’s happening?
To improve the reliability of water services in the region, Water Corporation is planning to construct a new pipeline from Sovereign Hill tank (located off Sovereign Hill Drive) to the Guilderton Water Treatment Plant.
Most of the pipeline will be installed below ground, except across Indian Ocean Drive. Here, we'll install the pipe via a trenchless method, starting from the privately owned land on either side of the highway.

When is this happening?
Work will start in February 2026 and construction of the pipeline is expected to take approximately 9 months to complete.
Work will be completed from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We will notify you again if we are required to work outside these hours.
How will this impact the community?
During the pipeline's construction nearby landowners and residents may experience some dust and noise impacts and traffic management if required. We appreciate construction work can be impactful, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation whilst this essential work is carried out.
To complete the work safely, lane closures will take place in stages. Please note that dates may change slightly due to weather.
Stage 1
Sovereign Hill Drive will have both lanes closed for approximately 3 days from Monday 13 July, with local access to properties maintained and residents north of Warrup Road advised to detour via Heffron Way.
Stage 2
Sovereign Hill Drive, between Warrup Road and Heffron Way, will have a northbound lane closure for approximately 2 weeks from Wednesday 15 July.
Stage 3
Heffron Way will have a southbound lane closure for approximately 3 days, commencing the week of Monday 27 July.
Stage 4
Heffron Way will be fully closed to traffic (both lanes) for approximately 2 days, commencing the week of Monday 27 July.
