Project goal:

To cater for population growth, we are planning to upgrade water supply infrastructure in the City of Swan.

Type of project:

Water pipeline

New water pipeline

This project is part of the City of Swan water upgrades

Status:

Starting soon

Delivery Date:

Construction is planned to start in August 2025 and will take approximately eight months to complete.

What’s happening?

To help ensure a reliable water supply, we are planning to upgrade the water supply infrastructure in Ellenbrook, Aveley and The Vines.

As part of this work, we will install 900 metres of new water pipeline along The Broadway in the City of Swan's road reserve. The pipe will be installed mainly through open trench methods however, to minimise impacts, we will use trenchless technology to cross Bordeaux Lane and Maffina Parade.

When is this happening?

Construction is planned to start in August 2025 and will take approximately eight months to complete.

The crew will be onsite from 6:30am, with work officially starting at 7:00am. No machinery will be operated before 7:00am. While we aim to keep any out-of-hours work to a minimum, it may be necessary at times to meet project deadlines.

Where is this happening?

Work will be completed along The Broadway and its adjoining streets. Crew will begin at the Western end of The Broadway, near Tranquillity Crescent, and progress towards the East.

How will this impact me?

Noise and dust

As with any construction activities there will be an increase in noise and dust in the area.

Traffic management

Traffic management will be in place as required to direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists safely around the work area. Construction areas will be fenced; however, some footpaths may be impacted.

Access to local businesses

We appreciate that construction can be disruptive to the local business community. We are working to reduce impacts where possible and encourage the community to support local businesses during construction.

Businesses will remain open, and access will always be maintained throughout the project.

Water supply

Should a planned water outage be required, any affected land and/or business owners/occupiers will be notified in advance.

Reinstatement

Unfortunately, this work requires unavoidable impact to the verge, kerbs, and the road. All areas impacted by the work will be returned to as close to their original condition as possible.

Restoration of impacted areas

Once our new infrastructure is in the ground, the section of open trench along The Broadway will be backfilled, compacted, and reinstated. We follow a thorough reinstatement process to ensure all impacted areas are replaced like for like, where practically possible. Unfortunately, our work will result in unavoidable impact to roads and verges. Once the work on this project is complete, the City of Swan will landscape the area.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation whilst this essential work takes place.
