Waterwise experience incursion
The waterwise Experience is an interactive, multi-sensory incursion for secondary school students, designed to engage and inspire them on the topic of water sustainability.
It supports the Sustainability cross-curriculum priority and strongly aligns with curriculum outcomes for the Geography strand of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).
What's covered during the experience?
Years 7 - 10
Duration: 50-60 minutes | Suitable for: 30-144 students (per session)
Using silent-disco technology, students are led through three engaging narratives. They gain new perspectives as they travel through an arid landscape, jet into space, and explore Perth city from a new angle.
Activities differ across the narratives, keeping students active, engaged and moving throughout the session. The experience concludes with a whole group gathering to reinforce the message that everyone’s actions matter.
- Water scarcity and water as a finite resource that needs to be protected
- Innovations to ensure water for Perth’s growing population
- Valuing differing world views and diversity through exploring other peoples’ experiences
- Emotional connection to water and its cultural importance to Aboriginal people
- Understand that sustainable practices are forged through respect, responsibility and understanding of the uniqueness of environments
- Empowering students to take action and become sustainability ambassadors
