Rainwater tanks are a great way to reduce our dependency on scheme water. And when they’re plumbed into your home, the benefits are even greater – saving up to 20% of the average in-house water use each year. A 125m2 roof area can collect up to 51,000 litres of water annually, supplying part of a household’s water needs.

Apply for a rainwater tank rebate

This program is available to Water Corporation customers connected to scheme water.

A rainwater tank can help you save up to 20% of your average household water use when plumbed into your home. Rainwater tank yield is dependent on climatic conditions, water collection area (i.e. roof size), household water usage patterns and the size of the tank.

Rainwater tanks are most cost effective in the higher rainfall areas of the state and in these areas around 51,000 litres of water could be collected from a 125m2 roof area, and used to supply part of your household’s water needs each year.

The Water Corporation Rainwater Reward Program offers the following rewards:

  1. for a new rainwater tank (with a capacity of 2,000L or more) that is plumbed in has a reward of up to $1000 or the cost of the tank and plumbing – whichever is the lesser amount;

    OR

  2. for an existing tank (with a capacity of 2,000L or more) to be plumbed in has a reward of up to $500 or the cost of the plumbing work – whichever is the lesser amount. (e.g. if costs $200 to plumb in the tank, you will receive an equivalent amount);

    OR

  3. for a new rainwater tank (with a capacity of 2,000L or more) to replace one that is already plumbed in has a reward of up to $500 or the cost of the rainwater tank – whichever is the lesser amount (e.g. If tank costs $200, you will receive an equivalent amount).
