Regional Rainwater Tank Rebate
A plumbed in rainwater tank can save up to 20% of your in-house water use each year. Not only saving you money on your water bills but also helping you to live more sustainably.
That’s why we’re offering a rebate on the cost of purchasing and plumbing in a new rainwater tank or plumbing in an existing rainwater tank. The new or existing rainwater tank must be plumbed into your toilet and/or washing machine to be eligible for this rebate.
According to Tankulator, customers who took advantage of our Rainwater Tank Rebate offer last year will now save an average of 54,000 litres of water each year! To find out how much you could save from a rainwater tank, visit the Tankulator website. You will need your postcode, the roof surface area and material type of your roof, as well as your daily water use (which you can find on your latest water bill).
The Rainwater Tank Rebate is available to eligible customers in the South West and Great Southern until Saturday 31 May 2026.

If you're eligible, you can now apply for one of the following rebates:
- New rainwater tank and plumbing - up to a maximum of $1,000 for a new rainwater tank with a capacity of 2,000L or more that is plumbed in.
- Plumbing in an existing rainwater tank - up to a maximum of $500 for the rainwater tank with a capacity of 2,000L or more.
- Replacing an existing plumbed in rainwater tank - up to a maximum of $500 for the rainwater tank with a capacity of 2,000L or more.
Please have the following before you apply:
- Your paid invoices or receipt/s showing the purchase of an eligible product and payment to a licensed plumber for undertaking the work.
- Ensure your invoices contain all of the required information such as:
- details of the licensed plumber that performed the eligible services;
- the size (capacity) of the rainwater tank;
- certify that the rainwater tank meets all relevant standards and government requirements;
- certify that the rainwater tank is Plumbed In and fully operational.
You will need scans or photos of the receipt/s to submit with your rebate claim.

The Rainwater Tank Rebate is offered to customers in selected towns to save water by reducing demand on scheme water. To be eligible, you must:
- Be connected to Water Corporation scheme water in one of the eligible towns
- Be the owner of the property where the rainwater tank has been installed
- Install a tank with a capacity of 2,000L or more
- Meet all relevant standards and government requirements
- Have the tank plumbed into your toilet and/or washing machine by a licensed plumber or restricted permit holder as per Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety Plumbers Licensing and Plumbing Standards Regulations 2000 (the Regulations)
- Provide copy of invoices for the purchase of the tank and plumbing/installation by a licensed plumber or restricted permit holder as per the Regulations
To receive a rebate your property must be connected to Water Corporation scheme water and you must provide a Water Corporation account number in an eligible town.

Please note that to be eligible for the rebate for a new tank, the tank needs to be purchased and plumbed in within the offer period.
You will need to engage a licensed plumber or restricted permit holder as per the Regulations to connect your tank. A rebate of up to $500 or the cost of the plumbing work (whichever is less) is available for an existing tank with a capacity of 2,000L or more (e.g., if the plumbing work costs $200, you with receive the equivalent amount).
It is up to the customer to ensure that they meet the Terms and Conditions of the offer. Some common reasons for applications to be rejected include:
- The application does not include invoices for the purchase and installation of the rainwater tank, or the invoices provided are incorrect
- The application is missing information
- The application is for a property that is not connected to Water Corporation scheme water
- The application is for a property not located in one of the eligible towns listed on our website
- The application is submitted outside of the rebate offer period (see FAQ below).
