Getting your retic system checked before summer can help you spot leaks, save on your water bill, and keep your garden in great shape.

That's why we're offering eligible customers in Esperance, West Pilbara and Port Hedland a rebate up to $250 per household to:

  • Check your control settings for compliance with watering days and times
  • Check your irrigation system for leaks
  • Repair or replace leaky pipes or valves

Book your service with an Approved Garden Irrigator as soon as possible. Once an application is approved, the rebate will be credited to the property’s Water Corporation account.

What's included?

This rebate helps make sure your irrigation system is set to the right watering days and run times for your location and assists with the cost of identifying and fixing specific irrigation issues that can lead to water waste.

Eligible services include:

  • Checking your automatic irrigation controller and, if needed, adjusting the watering days and run times to suit your location, property and sprinkler type. This check is mandatory for all rebates.
  • Adjusting sprinklers to reduce overspray and water waste.
  • Identifying and repairing leaks in irrigation pipes.
  • Repairing or replacing faulty irrigation system valves including the master solenoid.

Please note that the rebate only covers the services listed above. Any additional maintenance or repairs will need to be paid for separately. Be sure to ask your irrigator for an itemised quote or invoice before any work is carried out.

Does my controller need resetting?

As our climate changes, it’s our shared responsibility to ensure there is enough water for all. Permanent water saving initiatives are in place throughout Western Australia for scheme and bore water users, including rostered watering days and allowed watering times. These mandatory arrangements help ensure that we carefully use and conserve this valuable resource for when we need it most. Water Corporation is looking to help your household match your controller settings with the watering roster in your location.

Our unique WA climate also means your garden needs different amounts of water at different times of the year. By adjusting your irrigation system for each season, you can keep your garden healthy while saving water for when we need it most.

How do I make sure my controller is working properly?

You don’t have to call an irrigator to reset your controller, but this support is available if you need it, to help everyone comply.

Does my retic have a leak?

Leaking pipes and valves are two of the most common causes of irrigation faults that waste water in our homes.

While not all irrigation leaks are visible, there are signs to look out for including:

  • Wet, soggy or spongey area of lawn
  • Area of lawn that is greener than the rest
  • Dry patch of lawn
  • Wet sand around valve box
  • Uneven paving or mould
  • Low water pressure
  • High water use

Frequently asked questions

Yes, this rebate is designed to help address specific water waste issues. If you need assistance from an irrigator to resolve these issues, you can claim the rebate to help offset the cost. However, you are not eligible to claim this rebate if you have received a service rebate under a previous Waterwise Irrigation Rebate Program within the past two years.

The rebate is designed to help customers comply with permanent water saving initiatives and address irrigation problems that can cause significant water waste, including leaks, faulty valves, overspray and overwatering.

The eligible services were selected in consultation with Irrigation Australia and experienced waterwise specialists.

No. Your irrigation system must be connected to Water Corporation scheme water.

This rebate is to help customers use less water and targets problems that can waste the most water. A broken pipe or master solenoid valve can leak continuously, not just when your irrigation is on. Sprinklers are generally easy and cheap to replace: you can learn more here about testing and repairing your irrigation.

You can choose who completes your irrigation work. However, to claim the rebate, you must use an Approved Garden Irrigator participating in the program.

You will need a checklist to complete the rebate application which one of our approved garden irrigators can supply to you.

Waterwise education is a vital part of our rebate programs. Being present during the service allows your irrigator to explain:

  • How the irrigation controller should be programmed
  • How your garden’s watering needs change throughout the year
  • What repairs or adjustments have been completed

Rebates will be reviewed subject to the terms and conditions of the program. If your rebate is approved, you will receive a credit up to $250 to your Water Corporation account.

In exceptional circumstances, we may consider alternative arrangements, and you must request this by emailing waterwise.towns@watercorporation.com.au.

Approved rebates will be processed within eight weeks of the application date.

You will receive an email from us advising that your rebate has been successful. Your rebate will then be credited to your Water Corporation account. Please note that your bill won’t specifically reference the Waterwise Irrigation Rebate.

Yes, if you own multiple properties, you may claim a rebate for up to three separately metered properties. If you are a property manager, you may support up to three owners in registering for their rebate This ensures a fair distribution of rebates.

Please be aware that to be eligible for the rebate, the property owner or property manager should be present during the work, to sign the service checklist. If you are a tenant, the owner or property manager can designate you to be their representative: please obtain this in writing, and make sure a copy of the checklist is shared with the owner or property manager.

Yes, as long as the owner of the property hasn’t already applied for the rebate. Please note that this rebate will be credited to the owner’s Water Corporation account, so we recommend speaking to the owner to reach an agreement before proceeding. If the owner or property manager designates you to be their representative when the irrigator comes to the property, please obtain this in writing and make sure the signed checklist is shared with the owner or property manager.

Where one Water Corporation account number covers the entire building, only one claim per strata complex will be accepted.

Yes, there is a similar offer available for Perth Metro and Peel region customers on our Waterwise Offers page.

If you are a customer of Busselton Water, check out their waterwise offers here, or Aqwest customers can find information here.

Other regional areas in Western Australia are not eligible for this offer, this year. Everyone has a responsibility to comply with watering restrictions, but some water schemes are especially vulnerable to rising demand and reduced water supply. This year, the most vulnerable towns have been prioritised, for extra support.

You may be eligible for other offers to help you reduce your water consumption, on our waterwise offers page. You can also access water saving tips for your home, which can help to reduce your water bill.

Applications for the Regional Waterwise Irrigation Rebate open on 1 October 2026. The program closes on 31 May 2027, or earlier if all allocations are exhausted.
