Is the water coming from your taps looking a little different?

Usually this happens because of a change in your water pipes. Often there are some steps you can take to fix it.

The main cause of temporarily discoloured water is because small amounts of natural sediment, that settles within pipes over time, is stirred up.

The sediment is harmless and the water is safe to use.

In most cases this discolouration can be fixed by running a tap in your front garden for 2 minutes, then running another tap at the back of your house to clean out the pipes. Make sure this water is used to water your garden!

If your water looks white, it’s probably because there has been air trapped inside a pressurised water pipe, which has created tiny air bubbles. Let the water stand in an open container to let the bubbles go free and it will become clear.
