Purple Hop Bush

A large, evergreen shrub from Eastern Australia and New Zealand growing up to 4 metres high and 3 metres wide. It has large, upright leaves with a purple underside and insignificant flowers followed by decorative, persistent, green, hop-like fruits. Plants closely related to this one are known to be weeds in other parts of Australia. Not recommended for planting in gardens if you live near bushland outside of its native range.

Also commonly known as Varnish Leaf and Purple Akeake.
