• Water Corporation program helping its customers in Yanchep to save water

  • Program includes a series of personalised letters and a free irrigation reset service

Water Corporation today encouraged households in Yanchep to keep up the good work after making some great water savings since a new program began in October.

Water Corporation spokesperson Clare Lugar said the new water saving program included a series of personalised letters and a free irrigation reset service.

“Around 6 million litres of water has been saved since letters were sent to around 2,500 Water Corporation customers in Yanchep, containing personalised information about water use and tips to help reduce water use,” Ms Lugar said.

“By receiving updates every two months, households can view the results of their water saving efforts – with small changes having a big impact on water use.”

Ms Lugar said residents had found Water Corporation’s free irrigation reset service particularly helpful, with those taking up the opportunity to use the service saving the most water.

“The drying climate continues to impact the Perth metropolitan area – last year Perth recorded its ninth driest winter on record and the equal warmest year in 117 years,” she said.

“We all need to take responsibility for the amount of water we use and I encourage the Yanchep community to keep up the good work.”

Households in Yanchep received letters in October and December last year and will receive another letter this February and April.

Reducing community water use forms part of Water Corporation’s Water Forever plans to secure the water supplies in the drying climate.
