Increasing the capacity of Bremer Bays water supply

• New water supply bore installed by the Water Corporation in Bremer Bay
• Allows for additional water supply during peak holiday times
• In 2018-19, the State Government plans to invest $27.1 million in the Great Southern region on water, wastewater and drainage infrastructure 

The State Government has completed a $1.7 million water project to increase the water supply scheme in the coastal holiday town of Bremer Bay by about 30 per cent.

The project for a new water supply bore in the Bremer borefield will provide a more secure water supply for Bremer Bay and cater for peak demand periods during summer, when the region's tourist population more than triples.  

Bremer Bay residents and businesses have been supplied water through three existing bores at the borefield located to the south of the town.

The bores previously had the capacity to supply up to 675,000 litres of water a day to the town, with the new bore increasing the capacity by up to 900,000 litres of water a day.

Construction began in April 2018 and was completed in mid-August 2018.

Perth-based company, Leicon Notley completed the work for the Water Corporation, with about six Western Australian workers on-site throughout the project, including two local subcontractors.
