Water use

Average daily water use over the last week was 811 million litres, which was above the forecast of 714 million litres.  Since 1 July 2017 we have used 256.7 billion litres of water, which is 8.5 billion litres below the 265.2 billion litres we had forecast.

Dam levels

Over the last seven days, Perth’s dam storage levels have fallen (by one billion litres) from 136.2 billion litres to 135.2 billion litres of usable storage. Perth’s dams store water from three different sources… groundwater and desalinated seawater transferred from treatment plants as well as streamflow (produced by rainfall).

Sprinkler roster compliance

The two-day-per week sprinkler roster now applies, and our inspectors issued 72 warnings and 57 fines last week.  Since 1 January 2018 we have taken a total of 3,908 actions (warnings + fines) compared with 4,359 actions for the same period in 2017.

Perth has received 6.2mm of rainfall so far this May - the average rainfall in Perth for May is 116.9mm. Since 1 January 2018, Perth has received 135.8mm of rainfall – cumulative average rainfall from January to May is 202.8mm.

Why you need to drink more water before your wedding

Here at the Water Corporation we love a good wedding… and are excited about the forthcoming nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this weekend!

According to the website - the easiest and most affordable way to make your skin look healthy and radiant for your big day… is the humble glass of water.

Water will keep your body hydrated and is described on the website as the ‘first and foremost beauty treatment’.

Good luck to Harry and Meghan and to all the local brides and grooms getting wed this weekend.
