Shire of Lake Grace

Water Corporation continues to monitor water use in Lake Grace since re-opening six local government standpipes last week. The only standpipe that remains closed is the one on Gimble Road.

Unfortunately storage capacity in the tank at North Lake Grace has not fully recovered so residents should be aware that it may be necessary to restrict some standpipes again, should large drawdowns compromise the water supply scheme.

Notification of standpipe closures will be given via the Shire of Lake Grace’s SMS notification system.  If you wish to receive these notifications contact the Shire of Lake Grace on 9890 2500to be added.  An update will also be posted on the Water Corporation’s homepage at www.watercorporation.com.au

Water Corporation continues to work closely with the Shire of Lake Grace and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) to progress the installation of additional standpipes for emergency farm water supplies in Newdegate and the Lake Grace town site.

Residents that require access to water for farming should contact the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) on 1800 780 300 or email ruralwater@water.wa.gov.au.  DWER is the responsible government agency that manages emergency farmland water if it is needed from off-farm sources.

Shire of Kulin

The two standpipes that had to be closed in the Shire of Kulin will remain closed until further notice. As with Lake Grace, Water Corporation is working with DWER and the local Shire to investigate and make available alternative emergency farm water supplies.

Water Corporation apologies to the residents of the Shires of Lake Grace and Kulin for any inconvenience caused by standpipe closures.
