Precautionary advice area 4km off Point Peron
7 December 2017, 1pm
An electrical fault at Water Corporation’s Woodman Point Wastewater Treatment Plant late yesterday afternoon caused the aerator, which forms part of the wastewater treatment process, to stop working. This means partially treated wastewater is being delivered through the Sepia Depression Ocean Outlet Landline (SDOOL).
Water Corporation is bringing the aeration process back online and expects it to be operating normally later today.
Water Corporation has advised people not to swim, dive, kayak or fish within a one kilometre radius of the outlet of the SDOOL for the next 24 hours, as a precautionary measure.
The outlet is four kilometres off shore from Point Peron, in a channel 20 metres deep. Refer to end of yellow line on the map below.
The fishing restriction includes shell-fishing, crabbing and cray-fishing.
Water Corporation apologies for any inconvenience caused.
