Perth dams start to receive streamflow
Perth’s dam storage levels increased from 31.6% to 32.4% (0.8 percentage points) this week. However, over winter when demand is lower, we transfer water into our dams from desalination and groundwater sources. Last winter we banked 22 billion litres of water into dams.
There has been some reasonable rainfall this week, which brings the total rainfall this calendar year to 510.4mm. This was 6.3% below the average for the period of 544.9mm.
The 8.7 billion litres of streamflow was 34.5% less than the post-1975 average for the same period (13.3 billion litres).
People connected to the Integrated Water Supply Scheme, which supplies Perth, parts of the south west, Agricultural and Goldfields regions used an average of 573 million litres of water per day last week. This was against a target of 565 million litres per day.
The Winter Sprinkler roster is in place between 1 June and 31 August. In total this week we issued 96 warnings and 30 infringements in the metro region. This is compared to 164 warnings and 40 infringements last week.
